50 Most Important Musical Artists in 2014: Postscript

Here are the scores for the top 50. “O/A” is shorthand for an artist’s overall score, “Pop.” is an artist’s popularity score (based on performance on the Billboard charts), and “Acc.” is an artist’s acclaim score (based on Grammy awards and placement on the Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop poll).

In the case of ties, preference is first given to the more established artist. For example, LMFAO are ranked higher than Phillip Phillips because Phillips’ score is based almost entirely on the success of one single. If both artists are established, the artist who score more points in the most recent year will be ranked higher, which is why Vampire Weekend outranks Lady Antebellum.

Next, here are the top ten artists from each of the three years used in the feature.
